On the mechatronic unit, there is a workpiece carrier. For processing, it moves under the guided assembly station. The station contains two magazines and enables the assembly of components such as the block upper part, block lower part, chassis, and car bodies in various color variants. These components are first brought out of the respective magazine via drawers and then picked up by a suction gripper and placed on the carrier (or on a previously placed lower part or chassis). The fill level of the magazines is monitored using IO-Link ultrasonic sensors. The loaded workpiece carrier then moves to the end of the conveyor belt, where it is taken over by the next unit.
