Industrial robot cell with Kuka KR4 R600 and KR C5 micro-2

Kuka Education Cell Lite with KR4

The smart solution for robotics education

The global market for educational robotics is growing rapidly and demands modern, practical solutions from educational institutions. With the iiQKA Education Cell lite, KUKA offers a perfectly tailored platform to introduce pupils, students,
and trainees to industrial robotics. Equipped with the proven KR 4 R600 industrial robot, this cell is aimed at schools, universities, and vocational training centers looking for a safe, compact, and modular learning environment for stand-alone
operation. The cell is equipped with transport rollers. Actuating the four rollers lifts the entire cell and allows for easy moving.

Core Components and Hardware The basis of the cell is the KR 4 R600 industrial robot in combination with the compact KR C5 micro-2 controller. The system features an internal energy supply. The KUKA smartPAD pro teach pendant is used
for programming and control. A major focus is on safety and easy handling in everyday teaching. The cell is equipped with a closed housing and a hinged door including a safety switch. The system thus complies with national and international
safety regulations and has both a CE mark and cUL certification. An electric gripper is already included in the scope of delivery, enabling an immediate start to programming.

Technical Data of the KR4

  • Maximum payload: 4.63 kg
  • Maximum reach: 601 mm
  • Number of axes: 6
  • Position repeatability (ISO 9283): ± 0.015 mm
  • Protection rating (IEC 60529): IP40
  • Power supply: AC 200 - 230 V, 50/60 Hz, 2 kVA, 2x16 A fused
  • Gripper: Electric 2-jaw gripper, already mounted and wired

Interfaces of the KR C5 micro-2

  • 24 V digital inputs and outputs
  • EtherCAT Extension Bus KEB
  • Ethernet-based fieldbuses
  • smartPAD interface
  • Safe signals for cell safety
  • USB interfaces

Training Applications The training cell contains two application plates for the parallel use of two applications and for the integration of custom applications. The package also includes:

  • Application package pro iiQKA Ed. Cell: Contains adaptable training applications tailored to the KR4, which can be modified in a few simple steps and without the use of tools:
    • Robust applications with gripper, pen, and "hot wire".
    • Versatile exercise options (logic and motion programming in various use cases).
    • Adaptable exercises and difficulty levels.
  • Wave table: Offers additional possibilities to program and trace three-dimensional contours.

Software The package includes a license for the robot operating system iiQKA.OS2. This is a modern, modular, flexible, and intuitive operating system that is open by design and easily adaptable to customer needs. It provides all functions for operating KUKA robot systems controlled by the KR C5 micro-2.

  • Simple planning and project engineering with user-friendly guidance on the smartPAD pro.
  • Programming with KRL statements for fast, error-free programming of work and motion steps.
  • Motion Manager for optimized timing in I/O handling.
  • Implementation of all safety-related functions via the integrated ARGUS safety controller.
  • Safety functions and safety-related communication in discrete two-channel technology.
  • Safety-related fieldbus communication via PROFIsafe and FSoE.

Simulation Also included is a license for the simulation software iiQWorks.Sim Adv Full 1.x E SU 1yr with a validity of 365 days. The license unlocks all functions for simulation and virtual commissioning. It includes a full virtual robot controller (VRC) with support for multiple robots and the ability to integrate add-ons. Included are:

  • Simulation: Full Virtual Robot Controller (VRC) for multiple robots, collision checking, CAD import and export, export of 2D drawings.
  • Offline programming: Support for component interactions.
  • Virtual commissioning: Full VRCs, PLC connectivity for third-party software, OPC-UA, and scripting interface.
  • Application programming: CAD-to-path functions, automated collision-free path planning.

Minimum hardware requirements:

  • Processor: Intel i5 3xxx or equivalent
  • RAM: 8 GB
  • Hard drive: 3 GB free space
  • Graphics card: Intel HD Graphic 4400 (integrated) or equivalent
  • OS: Windows 10/11 (64-bit)

Note: The Vision package is optional and must be purchased separately.
