KNX-IP gateway, IP router secure, line or area coupler function

The IP router is one of a series of gateways or interfaces needed to create a complete building automation system or smart home with a number of different systems. It serves as interface, coupler and router in KNX installations and IP networks and operates according to the KNXnet/IP Secure specification (tunnelling and routing).

This interface is needed when data from the KNX system is to be exchanged with other devices (e.g. smartphones, PCs, tablets, etc.), making it possible to read out, analyse and display the data.

The router is a secure router. This means that communication on the IP backbone is encrypted, thereby protecting the system against cyber attacks from outside.

Functions:

  • The device uses the KNXnet / IP Secure protocol for communication (routing and tunnelling).
  • It can be used as a rapid line and area coupler.
  • The complete filter table for the main groups 0 to 31 is supported.
  • KNX devices can be programmed with the ETS via the LAN.
  • For these and other clients, 5 secure tunnelling servers are available.
  • The IP address can be assigned a fixed value or obtained from a DHCP server.
  • Power supply via 12 ... 30 V DC or PoE (IEEE 802.3af class 1).
  • The KNX standard communication (Multicast) can be switched off.
