Gesture control and capacitive touchscreens

In their search for ever simpler forms of intuitive operating controls, car manufacturers are focusing more and more on alternative methods of entering commands: Instead of haptically actuated switches and control knobs, modern vehicles are increasingly equipped with on-board touchscreens and voice control systems.

The latest trend is gesture control systems. These are systems that respond to finger pointing - without being touched. This is how you can, for example, use a hand gesture in the air to turn on the radio or control the sliding roof.
