VOCANTO refines didactic concept

PRESENTING THE LEARNING PLATFORM’S MAIN DEVELOPMENTS:

Two years after its launch, VOCANTO has finally made its big breakthrough in the vocational training sector. The high-quality content is arousing the curiosity of more and more training managers and making a particularly strong impression on the manufacturing industry. Consequently, over the past year VOCANTO has significantly refined its didactic profile especially with regard to in-house use. Presenting the learning platform's main developments:

EXAM PREPARATION – REDUCING THE FAILURE RATE

In the end, training serves the purpose of ensuring a supply of skilled workers. Getting young people through their final exam quickly and reliably requires focused preparation. To this end, VOCANTO relies on the tried and tested six-phases principle. Intelligently managed repetitions reinforce content and consolidate knowledge in the students’ long-term memory. Easily comprehensible visualization of your own learning progress also improves performance monitoring. Statistics show that this principle significantly reduces failure rates.

CREATING LEARNING ISLANDS –  BLENDED LEARNING

Digitalization is not an end in itself. This short sentence – printed out in bold letters – is pinned to the VOCANTO team’s notice board. It is a constant reminder that for all the enthusiasm for digital content, graphic animations and clever programming, the focus must always remain on the practical aspects of the daily work routine that awaits trainees when they qualify. Blended Learning therefore remains one of the most important maxims in the development of VOCANTO. In this connection, the learning platform uses Lucas-Nülle’s core competence by interconnecting the digital content with real systems used in everyday working situations. An example: a trainee is stuck on a machine test stand and does not know what to do next. They can then simply scan the device in question with their smartphone. Via a code placed there beforehand, they will be taken to the relevant learning unit in VOCANTO, where they will find appropriate advice on what to do.

TRUE TO THE MODEL OF COMPLETE ACTION –  CONSIDER THE CONTEXT

Only those who understand why they are learning will really learn new things. Pieces of information are thus all well and good, but only in the context of the problem situati on will they provide an overall picture. This realization, based on the model of complete action, is didactically implemented in a clever way in VOCANTO. All the content is brought to the learner in three steps comprising the learning content, an appropriate practical exercise and the final knowledge check. This ensures that the new knowledge isn’t just left hanging in the air but is immediately applied in a practical context and thereafter checked for correctness.

GAMIFICATION ELEMENTS OPTIMIZED – BEING PLAYFUL IS USEFUL

The idea that learning is always boring and arduous should finally be banished to the history books about education. Elements such as simulations or role play have been enriching lessons for many years. With digital teaching materials, this positive trend is currently gaining significant momentum. For gamification is much easier to integrate into the daily learning process in digital format than in analog format. VOCANTO aspires to be the platform that best uses digital possibilities for the benefit of learners. Gamification of course remains an important milestone in this regard. Last year, the gamification elements were further optimized. A level system now accompanies users on their virtual learning path. Users get experience points for correct answers, taking them up to new levels all the time. The fewer mistakes learners make, the more points they get. And if they repeat something and do it better, they naturally get a reward!

ULTIMATE. A licence for ultimate access

VOCANTO is structured so as to allow you to adapt it for your company in the best possible way. But we go a step further: with our new “Ultimate” licence, we grant full access to all content and even allow editing of learning units and animations.

Does the wording in a particular place not work for your company?
Then simply amend the learning unit.

Is an in-house topic missing altogether?
Then simply write a completely new learning unit.

Would you like to change a graphic or create a new animation?
Then use the animation editor.

Do you want to create a circuit diagram?
Then take advantage of full access to SIMULATIONS.
